Douglas Hot Springs (Tjuwaliyn)

The Darwin Show long weekend is when we go “YAY! 3 days out of town” so we got a group of friends together and headed down the track to Douglas Hot Springs, which is approx 200km south of Darwin or 130km north of Katherine.

We left work early on Thursday because this is a very popular spot with locals and tourists and we were hoping to get a good spot. Unfortunately we didn’t get there early enough and had to make do with a spot near the ladies toilets…this isn’t always a bad thing.

But you can’t let these things ruin your weekend, so we had an awesome time swimming in the river and spending time with good people.

If you get bored at the campsite you can drive down the road to the Douglas Daly Caravan Park – they have a great set up with a bar and restaurant and it’s a great place to stock up on ice.

Archee's accommodation
Archee didn’t want to sleep on the floor so they came up with this ingenious idea to suspend the tent over the camp cot.
Ribs for dinner
Who said you have to rough it when you’re camping? Jaden cooked us an awesome meal of beef ribs and mashed potato. The trick was to take the ribs off the fire and cook them over the coals.

Heading down to the water for a refreshing swim. Further upstream the water gets hot so you need find the right spot.

Adriano Zumbo Chocolate Brownie. Steve whipped up a batch of brownies in the camp oven. Crispy on the outside and oozy chocolate in the inside!
